LCD, DLP and LCOS are three projector technologies which are predominantly used in schools, colleges and corporate houses for giving presentations, watching videos, classroom teaching, product training etc. LCD projectors use LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology to display text and image on an interactive whiteboard or other projection screen. They are also known as multimedia projectors as they can display both text and images from PC, TV and video recorders. They can work with all types of notebooks and desktops. The projection can be of SVGA or XGA resolution.

SVGA means 800 * 600 resolutions whereas XGA means 1024 * 768 screen resolution. A digital image is made up of dots or pixels. A resolution is the size of the digital image which is expressed in width * Height. For e.g.: 800 * 600 resolution means, an image is 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels in height. The projector brightness is measured in ANSI (American National Standard Institute) Lumens.

Digital laser projection (or DLP) engineering is just one of the astonishing original technologies that are taking the area and presenting something that we never still knew we needed until now.

A video projector works pretty much the way a film projector does, by casting an image onto a screen. But with a video projector, digital video can be processed, which represents a considerable improvement over the images produced by a film projector.Like everything else these days, video projectors come in a variety of models and utilize different technologies. Three kinds of video projectors are dominating the market: Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) projectors, Liquid Crystal Diode (LCD) projectors, and Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors.

The Cathode Ray Tube Projector utilizes the old-fashioned picture tube that has been used in conventional TV sets for decades. With this type of projector, three CRTs, plus a magnifying lens, are used to cast an image onto a screen. The CRTs are used to project the primary colors, red, blue and green. This kind of projector works well to generate great contrast, very distinct blacks, and great color. Because CRT images are not scanned with an electron beam, they aren’t confined to a certain pixel range and offer greater latitude when it comes to resolution display. Overall, a CRT projector gives viewers a very satisfactory, film-quality image. Unlike DLP and LCP models, CRT projectors do not have bulbs that require replacing, which saves the consumer money. Also, CRT models last for 20,000 hours - a relatively long life.

The problem with projectors is if you have limited space than I would not recommend purchasing a home theater projector. However, assuming you do have the space, one in your home will give you as close to the big screen entertainment as possible.

How to install projector from ceiling mount

A few weeks ago I helped my cousin install a digital video projector in his basement. After having the projector sit on a coffee table for a couple days it was time his pride and joy be mounted properly. The installation though not terribly hard did take several hours, and even then it was not quite perfect. The picture did look marvelous in all its glory just not square to the screen.
The 100″ screen he has might be a tad too big, if there is such a thing. Needless to say we hooked up his XBOX 360 and thru in HALO, which looked pretty awesome. I must say multiplayer games are suited for such a large screen. To end the night off we watched a movie. Movies and video games truly do benefit from the larger viewing area.
